A solemn ceremony was held at Asomdwee Park in Accra to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the passing of former President John Evans Atta Mills. The event brought together leading figures from the NDC, including former President John Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.
Wreaths were laid by various dignitaries to pay tribute:
President Mahama and Vice President Opoku-Agyemang jointly laid one.
A wreath was laid on behalf of the late president’s widow by Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, supported by Linda Akweley Ocloo and Emelia Arthur.
Other wreaths came from the Speaker of Parliament, Johnson Asiedu Nketia for the NDC, members of Parliament, and representatives from the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage (JEAMMH).
In his address, President Mahama celebrated the values President Mills stood for—honesty, humility, and service to the nation—and linked his legacy to the NDC’s current Reset Agenda, inspired by Mills’s Better Ghana Agenda.
The ceremony, attended by party members, relatives, and the public, was a dignified reminder of the late president’s contributions to Ghana. Captured in powerful images and broadcast live across platforms, the event showed the continued respect and love Ghanaians hold for Prof. Mills.
